Eight cafés in Canggu we send our guests to, in order
Every guest asks where to eat. We used to give a list of thirty places and watch them get overwhelmed. So we cut it down to eight, ranked by how often we send people there. This is the actual list.
The list, in order
- Crate Café, Berawa. The avocado toast is the best in Canggu and the smoothie bowl is huge. Busy, no booking, get there before 09:00 on weekends. Kid friendly.
- Penny Lane, Berawa. Quieter alternative to Crate, two minutes away. Good for laptop mornings, the eggs benedict is excellent.
- Milk and Madu, Berawa. Wood-fired pizza, big garden, sandpit for small kids. We send every family here on night two.
- Old Man's, Batu Bolong beach. Sunset session every Tuesday, fire pits, live music. Beer is cold, food is fine, the vibe is the point.
- La Brisa Beach Club, Echo Beach. The Bali postcard. Reserve a daybed, order ceviche, watch the sun fall behind the surf.
- Warung Bu Mi, Canggu village. Authentic Indonesian, five dollars per plate, the locals queue at lunch. Try the nasi campur with ayam betutu.
- Sushimi, Berawa. The honest sushi place in Canggu. Tuna sashimi is the move, dinner only.
- Shady Shack, Canggu Beach. Vegan everything, the smoothie bowls are a meal. Good for the breakfast that recovers a big Saturday night.
If you have one breakfast in Canggu
Crate. Get there at 08:30, order the avocado toast and a smoothie bowl to share, walk down to the beach afterwards. That is the morning in Canggu.
"We ate at the villa five nights out of seven. The two nights we went out, we used Made's list. Both nights were great."
A word on the villa kitchen
Most of our guests eat at the villa more than they planned. Kadek shops the morning market, cooks Indonesian or Western on request, and the price for a full chef-curated dinner is less than two starters at La Brisa. Tell us in advance, we will sort it.
